Motor Vehicle Crash at State Center Results in Fatality(updated 7-7-23)

On July 6, 2023 at 8:42AM, Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 30 at the intersection of Durham Avenue in State Center.  Deputies arrived on scene to find three vehicles involved in the collision.  Bruce York, 43, of Ames was prounounced deceased at the scene and Anthony Trca, 27, of Norway and Lisa Halter, 42, of State Center were uninjuried.  Iowa State Patrol Troopers were contacted and conducted a technical crash investigation at the scene.  The initial investgation at the scene determined that York's vehicle was eastbound and making a left turn when struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Trca.  The vehicle driven by Halter was then struck by the other vehicles.  The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.   

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by State Center Fire & EMS, Unity Point Ambulance, State Center Police, Marshall County Medical Examiner's Office, Iowa DOT maintenance staff, and State Center Public Works.
