Marshall County - On Sunday, September 20, 2015 the Marshalltown Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office. held a Child Car Safety Seat Event in the Fareway parking lot.
The purpose of this event was to help reduce the incidence of improper installation of car seats. Certified car seat safety technicians from both the Sheriff's Office and Police Department were on hand to ensure proper use, installation, and compliance with Iowa Law of a child safety seat.
During the 5 hour event, 45 seats were checked/inspected and 18 replacement seats were given out. Some of the new seats that were given out were purchased with money donated by Al Hoop and by the State Farm Offices of Phyllis Mazour, Mike Peschong, and Jeff Linton. Including the event back in June at Hy-Vee, a total of 100 seats were checked/inspected and 42 replacement seats were given out at these two community events. These numbers show parents wanting to be sure of their child being in the correct and installed car seat.
For more information on this event or future events or to schedule a child safety seat inspection, contact the Marshalltown Police Department at 641-754-5725 or the Marshall County Sheriff's Office at 641-754-6380.
