Marshall County Deputies Respond to Fatal Accident in Rural Marshall County

July 13, 2026

At approximately 9:09 PM on July 12th, 2026, Deputies were dispatched to 1300-Mile of 295th Street, Rhodes, Iowa for a report of a motorcycle crash with two occupants.  When deputies arrived on scene an unresponsive male was located off the roadway several yards from the motorcycle.  An immediate search of the area was conducted where the female passenger was located who was also unresponsive.    

The driver of the motorcycle, Brandon Overman, age 31, of Rhodes Iowa was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of injuries sustained from the crash. 

The passenger, Chandler Kendall, age 27, of Rhodes Iowa was transported from the scene by air ambulance to a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa where she later died due to the injuries she sustained in the motorcycle crash. 

This motorcycle crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.   

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Iowa State Patrol, Unity Point Heath-Marshalltown Ambulance, Unity Point Health Life Flight Air Ambulance, Marshall County Medical Examiner’s Office, Melbourne Fire Department and First Responders, and Rhodes Fire Department.
