January 2, 2024

At approximately 10:50 PM on January 1st, 2024, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Main Street in Haverhill for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole causing a power outage in Haverhill.  Prior to deputies arriving, witnesses in the area had observed the incident vehicle, a silver 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup attempting to leave the area. When deputies arrived minutes later, the silver Dodge Ram was located near the crash scene.  The vehicle was unoccupied and indicated the driver was injured.

A search of Haverhill was conducted when the driver, Cade Bovenmyer, 24, of Gladbrook Iowa was identified and located at the Haverhill Social Club.

Cade Bovenmyer was arrested and charged with several traffic charges including OWI, 2nd Offense.  Preliminary breath test indicated Bovenmyer’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.238, nearly three times the legal limit of operating a motor vehicle.  Bovenmyer is being held in the Marshall County Jail and is scheduled to have an initial appearance on 01/02/2024 at 8:30 AM.

Power was restored to the City of Haverhill several hours later as the crash remains under investigation.
