Marshall County - The investigation into the discovery of a body just outside Marshalltown continues today. Investigators from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the Marshall County Attorney's Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation canvassed the Marshall County area, following leads received over the past 24 hours.
At the same time today, the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office began the long, involved autopsy processing of the victim, Rebecca Diane Hall, of Marshalltown. The full results are pending.
Currently, there is no new information to report to the media.
Many leads have been generated since we first began this case. We ask the patience of the media and citizens as we meticulously work this case to its fullest. We hope that anyone who may have information pertaining to this case or who may have observed the 2006 Blue Chrysler Town and Country van along East Main Street Road, contact our Tip-Line. This investigation began shortly after midnight on July 14, 2013 when a Marshall County Deputy, who was on patrol, discovered a vehicle along the north shoulder of East Main Street Road just outside the city limits of Marshalltown near Sand Lake. The vehicle was pointed west, toward town. The Deputy approached the vehicle and discovered the body of Ms. Hall inside.

June 24, 2021On Sunday, June 27 from 12:00PM to 4:00PM child passenger safety technicians with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Marshalltown Police Department will be hosting a child seat safety checkup event at Fareway located at 102 W Anson St. This event will be co-sponsored Fareway and Child Abuse Prevention Services of Marshalltown. Technicians will be available to check child safety seats to make sure they properly fit the vehicle and child as well as ensuring correct and safe installation. They will also be checking seats to make sure they are not expired or recalled. Techs will work with parents or caregivers to educate them on correct installation as well as offer tips to aid with proper installation. They will also be able to answer general questions about child passenger safety. This is a good opportunity to learn about different seat options and transitioning to different seats as your child grows and develops. Informational handouts will be available for caregivers.
June 8, 2021Marshall County, Iowa – June 8th, 2021 – Father’s Day should be a time to celebrate, but it can also be one of the deadliest on the roads. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is joining Iowa’s statewide Traffic Fatality Reduction Task Force in an effort to reduce deaths on Iowa roadways. As part of that effort Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, will be conducting a special enforcement initiative geared toward reduction of impaired drivers leading into Father’s Day week.
